Midtown Global Market is an indoor market in Minneapolis, MN. Inside the building are a bunch of small booths, each one a different immigrant owned small business. There are also a ton of great options to get a bite to eat and now a place to get a beer!
The shops sell a variety of things from jewelry to clothes, African goods to Swedish items. There’s one booth that has candy and other treats from around the world. There are bags and scarves and hats and backpacks and and and. There’s a bunch of cool stuff here. I like to roam around and check out the stuff in each booth.
There is even a full on grocery store in the market. My picture of it is blurry, so I won’t bore you with that. But I did get a good shot of some meat at the Halal butcher.
Looks good. And the prices aren’t bad. So, yeah there are plenty of shopping opportunities at the Midtown Global Market. But more importantly, to me at least, are the eating opportunities.
There are so many good places to eat at the MGM that I don’t even know where to start. Do you want American, Latin, Asian, Mediterranean, or some fusion? You could get fried rice at one place and a tamale at another. You could get falafel at Holy Land then right next to them get bubble tea.
On my most recent trip I went for a burrito from Sonora Grill and a beer at Eastlake Brewery. You can make up your own combo meal at Midtown Global Market.
MGM isn’t so huge that it will take you all day to see everything, but is worth a stop to check it out if you’re in town. I mean, if you’re willing to spend any amount of time at the Mall of America, you should at least see something more authentic. Don’t you think?
